Privacy policy
Late Landing is built to collect as little as possible. Your answers to the checker never leave your browser.
Last updated 16 October 2026
In short
- Your checker answers and claim letter details stay in your browser. We never receive them.
- We do not use cookies or similar tracking on this site.
- We count visits and button clicks with Umami, which records no names, emails or flight details.
- If you follow a link to a claims partner, that partner’s own privacy policy applies from then on.
1. Who we are
Late Landing (latelanding.co.uk) is run by Pras Rao, a sole trader trading as SoloStarterHQ. For this policy, Pras Rao is the controller of any personal data the site handles, under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Contact: email [email protected], or write to c/o SoloStarterHQ, 80A Ruskin Ave, Welling, London DA16 3QQ, United Kingdom.
2. The checker and claim letter
The checker works entirely in your browser. The airports, dates, delay, reason and number of passengers you enter are used on your device to work out a result, and are not sent to us or anyone else. Nothing is saved when you close or reload the page.
The same applies to the claim letter. Your name, flight number, airline and booking reference are only used to fill in the letter on your screen. If you press “Copy the letter”, the text goes to your device’s clipboard. We never see it.
3. Counting visits and clicks
We use Umami to understand how the site is used: how many people visit, which pages they read, where they came from, and how many start the checker, finish it and click through to a claims partner.
- Umami does not use cookies and does not store anything on your device.
- To count a visit, your browser sends Umami the page address, the referring site, your browser, operating system, device type, language and screen size. Umami also receives your IP address, which it uses to estimate your country and region.
- The events we record are “checker started”, “checker completed” (with the type of result, such as “likely”), “eligible result”, “partner link clicked”, “claim guide clicked” and “claim letter opened or copied”. They never include airports, dates, names or booking details.
- We see only totals and trends. We cannot use the reports to identify you, and we do not try to.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: running, measuring and improving the site in a way that has very little impact on your privacy. You can object at any time (see section 8). You can also block Umami with most ad and tracker blockers, and the site still works fully.
4. Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare Pages, run by Cloudflare, Inc.. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic technical details when your browser requests a page, and keeps them in logs for security purposes. Cloudflare explains this in its own privacy policy. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: delivering the site securely.
The site’s fonts are stored on the same host, so no font service such as Google Fonts receives your details.
5. Claims partners and other links
When the checker shows a likely claim, it offers a link to a claims partner. If you click it, you leave our site. The link carries a tracking code so that the partner, or the affiliate network that runs its programme, can tell that you came from us and pay our commission. They may set their own cookies once you are on their site.
We do not send them your checker answers, and we do not receive the details you give them. Any claim you make is between you and the partner, under its own terms and privacy policy. Please read them before you sign up. The same applies to official sites we link to, such as the CAA and legislation.gov.uk.
6. If you email us
If you email or write to us, we use your name, contact details and message to reply, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you. We keep the correspondence for up to two years, then delete it, unless we need it longer to deal with a complaint or legal claim. Do not send booking references or other personal details we have not asked for.
7. Sharing, transfers and retention
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles. The only organisations that handle data for this site are Umami and Cloudflare, as described above, plus anyone we are required by law to share it with.
Umami and Cloudflare use service providers in the United States and the European Union, so data may be processed outside the UK. Where that happens, it is protected by the safeguards set out in those providers’ data processing terms.
We keep Umami reports for as long as the site runs, because they contain only totals. Cloudflare’s security logs are kept for the periods set out in its privacy policy.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct or delete it
- ask us to restrict how we use it
- object to our use of it based on legitimate interests
- ask for data you gave us in a reusable format, where that applies
Because we hold so little, the only personal data we are likely to have is correspondence you sent us. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on its helpline, 0303 123 1113.
9. Children
The site is meant for adults dealing with their own or their family’s travel. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way the site handles data changes, for example if we add a different analytics tool. The date at the bottom shows when it last changed.
